Before & After Care
The best results start before your appointment and continue long after you leave.
Instructions
Please review the preparation and aftercare instructions for your treatment below. Following these guidelines helps protect your skin, support proper healing, and ensure the best possible results.
-
Before Your Appointment:
Discontinue retinol/retinoids and other strong exfoliating products 3–5 days before your appointment, unless otherwise directed by your provider.
Avoid AHAs/BHAs, glycolic or salicylic acid, exfoliating scrubs, and at-home peels for approximately 3–5 days beforehand.
Avoid waxing, threading, or other aggressive facial hair removal in the treatment area for about 5–7 days.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure and arrive without an active sunburn or significantly irritated skin.
Please let your provider know about any active breakouts, cold sores, open wounds, recent facial procedures, or prescription skincare/medications before treatment.
Come with clean skin when possible; makeup can also be removed prior to your treatment.
After Your Appointment:
Keep your skincare simple and gentle for the first 24–48 hours: mild cleanser, hydrating products, and moisturizer.
Avoid retinol/retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, peels, and other strong active ingredients for approximately 3–5 days, or until the skin feels completely comfortable.
Avoid excessive heat, including saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, and strenuous exercise, for the first 24 hours.
Avoid waxing or other potentially irritating facial treatments for approximately one week.
Do not pick, scrub, or aggressively exfoliate the skin.
Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and limit direct sun exposure while the skin is freshly exfoliated.
Makeup can generally be worn the following day if the skin feels comfortable.
What to Expect :
Your skin may appear slightly pink or feel mildly sensitive immediately after treatment. This typically settles quickly. Skin should feel noticeably smoother and may appear brighter and more radiant as any temporary sensitivity subsides.
A little note from Nika Skin Lab :
Every skin is different. Your provider may adjust these recommendations based on your skin, products, or combination of treatments performed during your appointment. -
Before Your Appointment:
Discontinue retinol/retinoids and other strong exfoliating products for approximately 5–7 days before your peel, unless otherwise directed by your provider.
Avoid AHAs/BHAs, glycolic or salicylic acid, exfoliating scrubs, at-home peels, and other potentially irritating active ingredients for approximately 5–7 days.
Avoid waxing, threading, depilatory creams, or other aggressive hair removal on the treatment area for approximately one week.
Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning before your appointment. Treatment should not be performed on sunburned, irritated, or compromised skin.
Please inform your provider of any prescription skincare or medications, recent cosmetic procedures, active cold sores, open lesions, skin infections, or significant irritation before treatment.
Do not schedule other aggressive facial treatments immediately before your peel unless specifically approved by your provider.
After Your Appointment:
Use only gentle, hydrating skincare while your skin recovers: a mild cleanser, moisturizer, and products specifically recommended by your provider.
Avoid retinol/retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, peels, and other strong active ingredients for at least 5–7 days and until the skin has fully recovered.
Do not pick, peel, pull, or scrub flaking skin. Allow it to shed naturally to reduce the risk of irritation, discoloration, or injury.
Avoid excessive heat and sweating—including saunas, steam rooms, very hot showers, and strenuous exercise—for the first 24–48 hours.
Avoid waxing, facial hair-removal treatments, and other potentially irritating facial procedures until the skin has completely recovered.
Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every day, limit direct sun exposure, and take extra care to protect freshly treated skin.
If your skin is actively peeling or particularly sensitive, keep makeup and unnecessary products to a minimum until it feels comfortable again.
Follow any additional instructions provided by your esthetician for the specific peel used during your treatment.
What to Expect
Depending on the type and strength of your peel, you may experience temporary redness, tightness, dryness, sensitivity, or visible flaking/peeling over the following several days. Not every professional peel produces visible peeling, and the amount of peeling does not determine whether the treatment was effective.
A little note from Nika Skin Lab:
Every skin—and every peel—is different. Your provider may adjust preparation and aftercare based on the peel selected, your skin condition, current skincare routine, and treatment goals. -

What to Expect

Be gentle when removing eye makeup and avoid excessive rubbing or pulling.
Regularly conditioning and gently caring for your natural lashes can help keep them looking healthy between appointments.
